(Federal Way, WA) Fifth-year Caroline Bentz set a school record in the 50 free (21.65) and earned second-team All-American honors on the second day of NCAA Championships Thursday night at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington. The Senior has accounted for all 31.5 points so far for the Sun Devils who sit in 17th place after seven events.
Bentz T11th place finish marks the third time a Sun Devil has garnered All-American honors in the 50 free since 2000, joining Camryn Curry (2020) and Caitlin Andrew (2008).
The 200 free relay placed second in 1:27.74, coming in 15th out of 31 teams to earn 4 points for the team after two nights of action.
In the morning prelims, Caroline Bentz finished in 16th in the 50 free to qualify for the consolation final by hitting the wall in 21.89.
The opening day of NCAA Championships featured a podium finish in the 200 medley relay by Miriam Sheehan, Iza Adame, Julia Ullmann and Caroline Bentz in 1:34.54. With the team’s 8th place showing in the relay gave the quartet first-team All-Americans honors.
In the 800 free relay, Erin Milligan, Charli Brown, Elli Straume and Grace Lindberg clocked in a season-best 7:03.72 to place 19th on Wednesday.
