Bucs Drop Contest to Fifth Consecutive Ranked Opponent

(Surprise, AZ)  The Park University Gilbert men’s volleyball team faced its fifth straight ranked opponent as it faced off with OUAZ who is receiving votes in the latest NAIA rankings. The Bucs again continue to improve and play well, but they fell to the Spirit 3-0 (16-25, 20-25, 25-27) at Faith Arena.

The Bucs posted 35 kills and hit .158 as a team on the night but could not match the Spirit who had 43 kills and hit .437 for the match.

The Bucs played better as the match moved along, holding two set points in set three before the spirit rallied to win 27-25.

Freshman Dominic smith let the team with 11 kills, followed by freshman Azzlyn Potts and graduate Xander Thesz with nine kills. Sophomore Zac York led the team with 13 digs and senior Jake Burdick had 27 assists.

The Bucs return home for a match up with Arizona Christian at Arizona Athletic Grounds tomorrow, March 20 starting at 6 p.m. Arizona Christian enters the match with a 3-8 mark but is coming off a 3-2 loss to No. 6 Benedictine Mesa.
