(Provo, UT) With a strong ending to the meet on beam, Sun Devil Gymnastics scored a 196.000, coming up short to BYU’s 196.775 in the Marriott Center on Friday night.
Notable Stats
- Arizona State (7-6, 2-3 Big 12) had a slow start and could not catch up to BYU (5-10, 3-3 Big 12), who set a new season high team score.
- Despite the setback, the Sun Devils hit 196.000 on the dot, the fourth-straight meet reaching that mark. It is their first 196.000 on the road.
- After a stumble last week for the beam lineup, they bounced back this week, matching their season high of 49.225. All five scores that counted were at least a 9.800 and the high score was a 9.875, which both Sarah Clark and Emily White earned.
- Graduate Emily White won the all-around with a 39.375. This is her 13th event title of the year, fourth in the all-around. She scored the lone 9.900 of the night for ASU, earning it on floor. She also notched a 9.875 on beam, matching her season NQS.
- Also in the all-around as usual was junior Kimberly Smith. She earned a 39.225 and scored at least a 9.800 in three of her four events. Her best score of the night was a 9.850 on floor.
- Junior Caroline Lichtman set a career high on vault with a 9.825, which tied for the highest team score on that event. She also tied her personal best on beam with a 9.800.

Rotation One: Bars, 48.950
The Sun Devils had a bit of a slow start, trailing the Cougars after the first rotation. A 9.850 from Jada Mangahas led the way. The only other score over 9.800 was a 9.825 from Sarah Clak after she stuck her double layout dismount.
Rotation Two: Vault, 48.800
Despite a fall late in the lineup, the team was able to hit the remaining five. There were two 9.825s to lead the scoring effort on vault, the first a career high for Lichtman and the second from White. Smith added a 9.800 as well.
Rotation Three: Floor, 49.025
A 9.900 from White was the highlight of the rotation for ASU. After a slow start to the lineup, Halle Braaflatnotched a 9.800. Setting up White’s big score was Smith’s 9.850. In the anchor spot, White earned her fifth score of 9.9 or better on floor, including third in a row.
Rotation Four: Beam, 49.225
The team ended on a high note with a 49.225, tied for the season-best beam score. Kayla Lee led off with a 9.850 to set the pace. After a stumble, the remaining four hit solid scores, led by 9.875s from Clark and White.
