(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College baseball team (20-6, 8-6 in ACCAC) faced a tough test on Tuesday as it hosted No. 10 ranked South Mountain Community College at the West Campus Aztec Field.
The Aztecs got swept as it managed one run and seven hits for the day. Freshman Leon Cereceres was a bright spot on offense as he finished 3 for 6 with a run scored. Freshman Luis Pablo Navarro (Walden Grove HS) and sophomore Lucas Casey (Canyon del Oro HS) took the losses on the mound.

Game 1: (10) South Mountain Cougars 2, (23) Pima Aztecs 0
The Aztecs had three hits and just one walk in the game.
Cereceres, sophomore Nolan Ganter (Pinnacle HS) and freshman Sean Barta each finished the game 1 for 3.
Navarro suffered his first loss of the season as he surrendered two runs in the 2nd inning but pitched six strong innings, giving up two runs (two earned) on five hits with five strikeouts and three walks on 88 pitches.

Game 2: (10) South Mountain Cougars 12, (23) Pima Aztecs 1 (5 innings)
The Cougars scored 10 unanswered runs to earn the run rule win.
The Aztecs cut the deficit in half at 2-1 in the 1st inning when Cereceres hit a leadoff single, and later scored on sophomore Caden Richards’ RBI single. The Aztecs had two more hits the rest of the game.
Cereceres finished 2 for 3 with a run scored while Richards was 1 for 2 with an RBI. Freshman Jackson Glueck also went 1 for 2.
Casey took the loss as he started the game and pitched two innings, giving up four runs (four earned) on three hits with three strikeouts and three walks.
The Aztecs will hit the road for an ACCAC conference doubleheader on Saturday at Mesa Community College. First game starts at 12:00 p.m.
