(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College softball team (33-1, 23-1 in ACCAC) picked up its 14th straight win on Saturday with a doubleheader sweep over Chandler-Gilbert Community College (7-21, 6-16) at the West Campus Aztec Field.
Sophomore Alyssa Noriega (Pueblo HS) brought her bat as she finished the day going 3 for 6 with five RBIs and four runs scored. Sophomore Natalya Rivera (Sunnyside HS) could not be contained at the plate as well as she went 5 for 6 with three RBIs and four runs scored. Freshman Jiselle Nunez (Tucson Magnet HS) was 4 for 6 with an RBI and two runs while freshman Clarissa Figueroa (Mountain View HS) finished 2 for 6 with three RBIs and a run. Freshman Arianna Flores (Salpointe Catholic HS) and sophomore Jessica Thompson (Tanque Verde HS) got the wins.

Game 1: (4) Pima Aztecs 12, Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes 1 (5 innings)
The Aztecs brought out the bats in the first three innings to secure the run rule win.
Rivera hit an RBI single to score Nunez and freshman Amerika Lopez-Bedoy (Sunnyside HS) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in Noriega to make it 2-0.
The Aztecs made it 6-0 with four runs in the 2nd inning. Sophomore Talia Martin (Mountain View HS) hit an RBI double to plate Figueroa, who led off the inning with a double. Noriega capped off the inning with a three-run home run on the first pitch she encountered to drive in Martin and Nunez.
The Coyotes scored on a run in the top of the 3rd but the Aztecs countered with another six runs in the bottom of the inning. Noriega came through again as she hit a two-run RBI single to bring around Martin and pinch runner Amber Conner (Tanque Verde HS). Rivera followed with a two-run homer to center field as she scored Noriega.
Noriega finished the game 2 for 2 with five RBIs and three runs scored while Rivera closed out the game going 2 for 3 with three RBIs and a run scored. Martin was 2 for 2 with an RBI and two runs, and Nunez was also 2 for 2 with two runs. Figueroa went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run.
Flores picked up her 15th win of the season as she pitched three innings, giving up one run (one earned) on one hit with five strikeouts and one walk. Freshman Belen Camacho (Pueblo HS) pitched the final two innings, giving up one hit with two strikeouts.

Game 2: (4) Pima Aztecs 8, Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes 2
The Aztecs took the lead for good breaking up a tie game with two runs in each the 3rd and 4th innings and helped seal it with three runs in the 6th inning.
Figueroa drew a bases loaded walk to score Rivera to get Pima on the board in the 2nd inning.
With the score tied at 1-1 in the 3rd, Camacho hit a two-run RBI double to drive in Noriega and Rivera to go up 3-1.
Nunez extending the lead with an RBI single in the 4th inning to plate Martin as freshman Taiya Teixeira (Salpointe Catholic HS) reached base on a single and later stole home plate.
The Coyotes got a run back in the 5th inning to make it 5-2. Freshman Sariah Ferrentino (Sabino HS) drew a bases loaded walk in the 6th inning and freshman Legend Otero and Figueroa hit back-to-back RBI singles to cap the inning.
Rivera finished 3 for 3 with three runs scored while Noriega and Teixeira each were 1 for 4 with a run. Figueroa and Camacho each finished 1 for 3 with two RBIs. Nunez was 2 for 4 with an RBI and Otero closed it out going 1 for 4 with an RBI.
Thompson got the win in the circle as she pitched a complete-game, giving up two runs (one earned) on 10 hits with seven strikeouts and no walks.
The Aztecs will be back in action next Saturday when they play at Phoenix College in an ACCAC conference doubleheader. First game will start at noon.
