#24 Gym Devils Place Fifth at Big 12s

(West Valley City, UT)  No. 24 Sun Devil Gymnastics scored a 195.975 at the 2025 Gymnastics Championships on Saturday at the Maverik Center, placing fourth in the evening session and fifth overall.

Notable Stats

  • Though Arizona State placed fourth in the evening session, with the two sessions combined, ASU placed fifth at the Big 12 Championships due to BYU scoring higher in the afternoon session to move into fourth.
  • The 195.975 is the 10th-highest team score in conference championship history for the Sun Devils.
  • The highest individual score of the meet came on bars whe graduate Sarah Clark hit a 9.900. It is her fourth score of 9.900 or better of the year. She placed second in the championships on bars.
  • Graduate Emily White earned a 39.275 in the all-around, good for fifth. She had two 9.875s, one on floor and one on beam, both team bests. On floor, she has not scored below a 9.875 since January 26. Her floor score tied for third in the championships.
  • Also in the all-around was junior Kimberly Smith, notching a 39.075. On beam, she hit a season-high 9.850, which also tied her career high.

Rotation One: Floor, 49.000

The Gym Devils got off to a slow start in the first rotation on floor. The first 9.800 came from Jada Mangahasbefore Halle Gregoire added another. White ended the lineup with a team-best 9.875. 

Rotation Two: Vault, 48,825

On vault, the Sun Devils struggled to find their landings. The first five scores were all in the 9.7 range until Mangahas earned a 9.800 at the anchor spot.

Rotation Three: Bars, 49.025

ASU got its highest individual score of the meet after Clark earned a 9.900 in the anchor spot. The scores were low before her, with Smith and Mangahas both earning 9.800s and the other three in the 9.7 range.

Rotation Four: Beam, 49.125

The Sun Devils ended with its best event score of the meet. Three scored a 9.850 (Kayla Lee, Smith and Clark) to set up White scoring a 9.875.

The NCAA Selection Show is on Monday, March 24, at 9 a.m. MST on ESPNU, which is when the Gym Devils will learn where they will be sent for NCAA Regionals during the first weekend of April.
