(Tucson, AZ) Pima Community College softball players Natalya Rivera (Sunnyside HS) and Arianna Flores (Salpointe Catholic HS) put on a display during the week of Feb. 9-15 as accolades came from the NJCAA and ACCAC.
Rivera, a sophomore infielder, was named NJCAA Division II National Player of the Week and ACCAC Division II Player of the Week. Flores, a freshman pitcher, earned her fourth straight selection as ACCAC Division II Pitcher of the Week.
Rivera played in all four games as she went 9 for 13 (.692 batting average) with four home runs, nine RBIs, seven runs scored, two doubles, two walks and a stolen base as the Aztecs swept No. 25 ranked South Mountain Community College and Scottsdale Community College.
Flores pitched two complete-games (14 innings) and gave up six runs (three earned) on eight hits with 25 strikeouts and 10 walks. She pitched a no-hitter against the Artichokes where she had 12 strikeouts and three walks. Flores owns the first four ACCAC Division II Pitcher of the Week awards (Jan. 19-25, Jan. 26-Feb. 1, Feb. 2-8, Feb. 9-15).
The Aztecs earned a sweep at Chandler-Gilbert on Tuesday and are back at the West Campus Aztec Softball field on Saturday when they host Eastern Arizona College in a non-conference doubleheader. First game starts at noon.
