(Glendale, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s track & field team competed in its fourth meet of the Indoor Season on Saturday at the Gaucho Indoor Invitational in Glendale.
Sophomore Reatta Danhof (Ironwood Ridge HS) broke her fourth Pima school record in as many weeks as she topped her own school record in the 800-meter race with a time of 2 minutes, 18.31 seconds. She set the previous standard at the Al Shirley Memorial Invitational on Jan. 17 with a time of 2:21.32.
The Aztecs earned two more national qualifying marks. They have a total of 32 national qualifying marks/times between the men’s and women’s teams.
Sophomore Linda Rivero (Desert View Hs) took third place in the 800 meters and moved up to the No. 2 spot in Pima school history with a time of 2:22.12. She also earned an Indoor national qualifier in the process.
Danhof, Rivero, as well as sophomore Alyssa Perez (Agua Fria HS) and freshman Ella Allred (Benson HS), all qualified for the 4×800 relay at the NJCAA Indoor National Championships. Their times compiled together in the race earn their spot. Allred took fourth place with a time of 2:27.52 and Perez crossed the finish line in fifth place with a time of 2:30.80.
The Aztecs will return to the West Campus Aztec Track on Friday and Saturday for the Pima Multi’s/Indoor Invitational.
