(Surprise, AZ) The Park University Gilbert men’s basketball team dropped their final contest of the 2024-2025 regular season, losing 87-76 to the Ottawa University Arizona Spirit Thursday night at Faith Arena.
The Buccaneers and Spirit opened and concluded conference play together, as these two teams first met on Jan. 4. Park-Gilbert won that game meeting 75-73, off a game-winning three-pointer from guard Tanner Pate. OUAZ got its revenge Thursday night, as the Spirit scored 52 second-half points to even the season series.
The Bucs spread the wealth Thursday night as four players found themselves in double-digit scoring figures. Guard Mahlik Lindsey led Park-Gilbert team in scoring with 18 points while also dishing out seven assists, as he played 23 minutes and came off the bench. With 35 minutes played, Guard Toate Sika recorded his third double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Tanner Pate played all but one minute, scoring 16 points and recording eight rebounds and two steals on the defensive end. Forward Marvin Lee scored a season-high 12 points in 24 minutes played, as he tied his previous 10-point season-high in the first half.
The Buccaneers shot 41.4% from the field and 29.2% from the beyond the arc, and OUAZ shot 48.5% from the field and 35.5% from three-point land.
Park-Gilbert men’s basketball returns next season for year two in the competitive Great Southwest Athletic Conference, with plenty of returning talent ready to lead the way.
