(Tempe, AZ)  The Park University Gilbert baseball team dropped the final game of the four-game series with the College of Idaho losing a 10 inning thriller 7-5 at Tempe Diablo Stadium Field 1 this morning. The Bucs fall to 1-3 on the season.

Glendale Community College transfer Hayden King got the call to start on the mound this morning and held COI scoreless through the first three innings, pitching out of a small jam in the second.

The Bucs got on the board in the bottom of the third on an RBI single from Andrew Allanson to score Nick Miller. Allanson returned to the favor in the fourth as an errant throw allowed a COI runner to score and tie the game. COI touched King for two runs in the top of the fifth to knock him out of the game. Josh Leckey came in and held COI scoreless for 2.2 innings.

Sunny Patel made his Park debut with a scoreless eighth inning.

The Bucs tied the game with solo runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Caleb Rozier tripled home the first run in the fifth and Enrique Figueroa drove home the other with a sacrifice flu in the six.

COI held the Bucs scoreless in the seventh and eight innings as well. With the score tied at 3-all entering the ninth, there was no feel on who could pull out the win.

COI put a run on the board in the ninth with a two-out single to take the lead. In the bottom half of the ninth, the Bucs tied the game without a ball leaving the infield. Two walks and an infield single loaded the bases. A hit by pitch on Bucs shortstop Joel Holguin toed the game and sent the contest to extra innings.

COI touched up Bucs reliever Ethan Osness for three runs in the top of the 10th and Park Gilbert answered with only one run in the bottom half of the inning and the Yotes walked away with the win.

Osness (0-1) took the loss in relief on the mound.

Offensively, Holguin (3) and Allanson (2) had multiple hit games for the Bucs. Allanson had two RBI.

The Bucs return to action next week starting on Tuesday morning as they host Nelson at Arizona Athletic Grounds at 10 a.m. before hosting Eastern Oregon for a four-game series Thursday through Saturday February 6-8.
