(West Valley City, UT) Emily White came through with a 9.900 on floor to clinch a close competition as Sun Devil Gymnastics took first place at the Wasatch Classic on Monday afternoon with a 195.675, beating Boise State, San Jose State and Iowa State.
Notable Stats
- Arizona State (4-3) took first in the quad meet to pick up three wins on the year, including a win over Big 12 foe Iowa State to preview the two meeting in a dual meet at the end of the month.
- The Gym Devils scored over a 49.000 on both bars and beam with 49.025 on each. That is a season best event total for the team across all events.
- Graduate Emily White had a stand-out meet, scoring 9.900s on bars and floor and a 9.875 on beam, all team bests. The floor score won her a share of that event title and she placed second on the other two events. White now has 40 total scores of 9.9 or better in her career.
- Winning the all-around was junior Kimberly Smith with a 39.100. Her best scores were 9.800s on bars and beam.
- Graduate Jada Mangahas made her season debut, competing on vault and earning a 9.800, the second-best score in that event for the team. Fellow fifth year Sarah Clark made her season debut on floor, notching a 9.675.
- A few made their collegiate debuts in the meet. Junior Kayla Lee made her bars debut (9.675) and sophomore Chloe Seaga competed on beam for the first time (9.250).
- Notable season highs were reached all across the lineups. Freshman Halle Braaflat scored a new best on floor (9.825), Smith had new highs on bars and beam (9.800), Clark’s 9.850 on bars was a new best, Lee also had a 9.850 but on beam for a new season high and White’s 9.900s were season highs.

Rotation One: Vault, 48.725
The Gym Devils were in third after the first rotation on vault. In the anchor, senior Alex Theodorou led the way with a 9.825. Making her season debut, Mangahas set up that anchor score with a 9.800.
Rotation Two: Bars, 49.025
Scoring over a 49.000 for the first time this season, the bars lineup saw some big scores. The highlight was White’s 9.900, her first of the season and the best bars score for the team this season so far. Sarah Clarkfollowed that up with a 9.850. Starting the lineup was Theodorou’s 9.800.
Rotation Three: Beam, 49.025
The event total was boosted to over a second 49-plus after two inquiries boosted a pair of scores. Despite a fall in the lineup, the team held strong. White continued her strong outing with a 9.875 to end the rotation. On the other end, Lee led off with a 9.850. Smith had a 9.800 as well to add to the total.
Rotation Four: Floor, 48.900
White earned her second 9.900 of the day on floor in the anchor spot to clinch the win in a tight meet. Freshman Halle Braaflat had her best score in her young career with a 9.825.
