(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s track & field team opened the 2025 season on Friday and Saturday as it hosted the Jim Mielke Multi’s and the Al Shirley Memorial Invitational at the West Campus Aztec Track.
The Aztecs earned seven national qualifying times and marks for the weekend; four were for both the Indoor and Outdoor National Championships.
Sophomore Reatta Danhof (Ironwood Ridge HS) started the season by breaking her own Pima Indoor school record and setting a national qualifying time in the 800 meters. She took second place with a time of 2 minutes, 21.32 seconds. She broke her previous record of 2:24.19 set last season.
Sophomore Maylee Thompson (Willcox HS) earned two national qualifying marks on the day as she took first place in the Long Jump with a mark of 5.70 meters (18-feet, 8.50-inches) during the Pentathlon to qualify for both national championships. She also set a qualifier in the Pentathlon after taking third place overall with 3115 points. Her point total put her second in the Pima Indoor all-time list.
Sophomore Morgan Pepe (Ironwood Ridge HS) took first place in the Pole Vault and set her Indoor and Outdoor national qualifier at 3.65 meters (11-11.75). She sits second on the Pima Indoor all-time list.
Sophomores Janiya Ross (Desert Vista HS) and Izzy Green (McClintock HS) tied for first place in the High Jump as they both set national qualifying marks at 1.67 meters (5-5.75).
Freshman Hannah Droeg (Casteel HS) placed fourth in the Pentathlon with 2939 points and earned her national qualifier.
The Aztecs will compete in the PVCC Indoor Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Paradise Valley Community College in Phoenix.
