Cohenj Gonzales earns his third nod as ACCAC Player of the Week

(Tucson, AZ)  Pima Community College men’s basketball player Cohenj Gonzales (Mesquite HS) was instrumental in helping the Aztecs maintain their undefeated streak and received his third award from the ACCAC conference.

Gonzales, a sophomore guard, was named ACCAC Division II Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 12-18. He earned his previous awards for Dec. 1-7 and Dec. 22-31.

He averaged 19.5 points, 4.0 assists, 3.5 steals and 2.5 rebounds as the Aztecs won at Phoenix College and beat Chandler-Gilbert Community College at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.

He is second in the ACCAC averaging 21.0 points per game. He is also averaging 5.5 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 2.2 steals. Gonzales is shooting 50.8 percent from the field, 42.5 percent from three-point range and 86.1 percent from the free throw line. He has played and started in 17 games this season.

The Aztecs are back at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Saturday when they host Glendale Community College. Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
