(Aliso Viejo, CA) The Great Southwest Conference announced its fall sports scholar-athletes and Park University Gilbert was well represented as 24 athletes received the honor.
To qualify for this award a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and hold a GPA of 3.5 or greater.
Both men’s and women’s soccer had 10 athletes each, while women’s volleyball had four athletes named to the squad.
Women’s soccer had two 4.0 scholar-athletes, leading scorer, senior Emma Alvarez and starting goalkeeper Morgan Trail. In addition, goalkeeper Monet Rogers who is only a sophomore athletically, will graduate this year with a 3.93 GPA. The other seven amazing scholar athletes include seniors Hallie Benson (3.78), Ashlynn Jones (3.77), Dani Mares (3.86), Mya Mudry (3.80), Gaby Pinzon (3.80), Leigha Ritchie (3.55) and Alexandra White (3.50).
Men’s soccer has two 4.0 GPA scholar-athlete in senior Konstantin Papanikolaou and sophomore Paul Johns. The Bucs top two goalkeepers sophomore Nicklas Lagesen(3.8) and junior Zac Stephenson (3.71) also found spots on the list. Also earning the honor were sophomores Konstantinos Hinteregger (3.9) and Ilan Rodriguez-Roda (3.7) along with juniors Jerome Diaz (3.5), Justin Muller (3.73), Marco Taiocchi (3.66) and Isaac Waddell (3.52).
Women’s Volleyball also had a 4.0 scholar-athlete in sophomore outside hitter Porsche Bauer. She was joined on the squad by sophomore Keira DeFaria (3.69) and juniors Jessica Goldsmith (3.75) and Mallory Turner (3.69).
