(Tempe, AZ) No. 2/13 Sun Devil Swim and Dive won three Big 12 weekly swim and dive awards announced by the conference this afternoon. It’s the fourth week this season where the team has earned multiple weekly honors.
Graduate Caroline Bentz earns her fourth Big 12 Swimmer of the Week honor, her fifth conference award this year. She accumulated 78 points to help the Sun Devils place second at the NC State Invite and broke school records in the 200 back (1:52.10), 100 back (52:39) and the 100 free (48.16) as a lead off leg on the 400 free relay.
The Virginia native also placed second in the 50 free (21.80) and helped set the school records in the 200 free relay and the 200 medley relay.
Sophomore Ilya Kharun wins his fourth Big 12 Swimmer of the Week award this season after accumulating 91 points and leading the Sun Devil to a win in the NC state Invite. He swept the butterfly events, breaking his school record in the 100 fly (43.85) and winning the 200 fly (1:39.00).
In addition, the Olympian helped the Sun Devils win the 200 free relay (1:13.93), the 200 medley relay where he swam an 18.89 50 fly leg. Lastly, he helped the maroon & gold win the 400 medley relay.
Diver Lane Stallworth wins his second Big 12 Diver of the Week honor after winning the platform diving competition with 335.80 points and finishing second in the 3m diving scoring 377.70 points. In the 1m diving, he was third with 334.40 points.
