Sours-Miller and Hoffmeyer combine for 35 points and 21 rebounds as Women’s Basketball trounces Chandler-Gilbert

(Chandler, AZ)  The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (5-1, 2-0 in ACCAC)  took control early in its game on Saturday at Chandler-Gilbert Community College (2-5, 0-2).

The No. 10 ranked Aztecs outscored the Coyotes 22-6 in the first quarter and went on to a 64-41 win in their first road game in ACCAC conference play.

The Aztecs held a 32-20 lead at halftime and outscored Chandler-Gilbert 32-21 in the second half.

Freshman Kiley Sours-Miller produced her third double-double in the first six games as she finished with 18 points and 16 rebounds. She also had three blocks.

Sophomore Rori Hoffmeyer shot 8 for 9 from the field with 17 points to go along with five rebounds.

Freshman Melicia Nelson (Window Rock HS) closed out the game with four points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals.

Freshman Ahdiayh Chee added six points while sophomore Mattanaya Vital (Amphitheater HS) had five points and three assists. Sophomore Analise Holthaus (Ironwood Ridge HS) posted two points and six rebounds.

The Aztecs will play a non-conference game on Tuesday against Central Arizona College. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
