Aztecs Women’s Cross Country closes out fall season at NJCAA Division I Championships

(Richmond, VA)  The Pima Community College women’s cross country team competed at the NJCAA Division I National Championships held at Pole Green Park in Richmond, VA.

The No. 18 ranked Aztecs finished in 20th place out of 25 teams with a team score of 524 points. Salt Lake Community College took first place with 55 points. Central Arizona College placed 13th with 324 points.

Sophomore Reatta Danhof (Ironwood Ridge HS) was the top finisher for Pima as she closed out the 5K race with a time of 19 minutes, 55.8 seconds earning 72 points. She finished in 81st place in the individual standings out of 184 runners.

Freshman Elizabeth Coppola (Pusch Ridge Christian HS) earned a personal-record as she closed out the race with a time of 20:33.8. She crossed the finish line in 107th place and picked up 96 team points.

Sophomore Mariah Cruz (Mountain View HS) got 106 team points and finished in 117th place with a time of 20:47.1.

Freshman Karlee Pope got 120 points as she closed out the race with a time of 21:07.23. Sophomore Alyssa Perez (Agua Fria HS) rounded out the team scoring as she got 130 points for her finish at 21:28.9.

The Aztecs will return for Indoor Track & Field season starting in January.
