(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s basketball team (5-0) closed out play in its hosted Aztec Fall Classic on Saturday at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.
The No. 8 ranked Aztecs defeated Big Bend Community College (WA) 84-49 to finish 3-0 in the Fall Classic.
Up 16-11, the Aztecs held the Vikings scoreless for almost seven minutes and proceeded to go on a 22-0 run to make it 38-11. Freshman Mason Hunt (Bradshaw Mountain HS) scored eight points during that stretch. The Aztecs took a 59-25 lead at halftime.
Sophomore Max Majerle (Arcadia HS) led the way with 20 points to go with four assists and four steals. Fellow sophomore Wes Ball (Marana HS) has had three double-doubles in the first five games as he finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Sophomore Gabe Oldham produced a double-double as well as he posted 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Hunt came off the bench and scored 13 points.
Sophomore Kota Benson (Mesa HS) has had double figures in assists for four of the first five games as he finished with seven points, 11 assists and five rebounds.
The Aztecs will begin ACCAC conference play on Wednesday when they go up against Phoenix College at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
