Tucson, AZ –The Pima Community College men’s basketball team (2-0) picked up its second straight dominant victory on Saturday against the Arizona Sol club team.
The No. 10 ranked Aztecs won 148-58 securing their second straight win by 90 points or more.
Up 33-24, the Aztecs went on a 21-4 run to take a 59-30 lead. They led 70-33 at halftime.
They continued to pour it on as they started the second half on a 33-9 run to make it 103-42.
The Aztecs went 57 for 88 (65 percent) shooting for the game and 26 for 37 (70 percent) in the first half.
Sophomore Gabe Oldham scored 19 of his 21 points in the first half as he finished 10 for 12 from the field and with six rebounds. Fellow sophomore Cooper Jones (Buena HS) scored 21 points off the bench after he went 7 for 11 from the field and 5 for 9 from three-point range. He also grabbed five rebounds and dished out four assists.
Freshman Mason Hunt (Bradshaw Mountain HS) shot 5 for 7 from the field with 18 points. He fell short of a double-double with nine rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Sophomore Cohenj Gonzles (Mesquite HS) added 17 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals while fellow sophomore Max Majerle (Arcadia HS) closed it out with 12 points, four assists, three rebounds and three steals.
Freshman Brock Mendoza played 10 minutes but made the most of it as he finished with a double-double of 10 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and three blocks. Sophomore Wes Ball (Marana HS) also scored 10 points.
Sophomore Kota Benson (Mesa HS) had 10 assists to go with five points, seven rebounds and five steals.
They will host the Aztec Fall Classic from Nov. 14-16 at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium. Pima will play Dallas College Eastfield on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
