(Paradise Valley, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (8-2) picked up a dominating win on the road on Saturday at Paradise Valley Community College (1-7).
The No. 11 ranked Aztecs earned their sixth shutout win of the season after beating the Pumas 7-0. The Aztecs outscored the Pumas 13-0 in their two regular season meetings this season as the Aztecs won 6-0 on Aug. 31 at the West Campus Aztec Field.
Freshman Ashley Martinez (Sunnyside HS) scored back-to-back insurance goals for the Aztecs in the 48th and 76th minutes. Freshman Kassandra Vasquez provided the first assist and sophomore Ariela Sanchez-Hermosillo (Sahuaro HS) assisted in the second goal.
Sanchez-Hermosillo had her second assist of the game when she found freshman Yatana Acosta (Tucson Magnet HS) to set her up for her goal in the 78th minute.
Sophomore Solaris Graves (Ironwood Ridge HS) assisted in freshman Kamelani Peralta’s (Tucson Magnet HS) goal in the 10th minute to make it 2-0. Graves followed that play with a goal of her own in the 20th minute.
Freshman Kristal Navarro (Tucson Magnet HS) put the Aztecs on the board in the 9th minute and sophomore Lizzie Walker (Canyon del Oro HS) was Pima’s other goal scorer as she found the back of the net with an assist from sophomore Uriah Burrell (Catalina Foothills HS) in the 28th minute to make it 4-0.
The Aztecs outshot the Pumas 23-1. Freshman Phoebe Knisley (Canyon del Oro HS) finished the match with one save.
The Aztecs will be back at the West Campus Aztec Field on Tuesday when they host Mesa Community College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
