(Gilbert, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s cross country team took third place at the Region I, Division I Championships on Friday at Crossroads Park in Gilbert, AZ.
The Aztecs finished with a team score of 57. Central Arizona College claimed first place with a team total of 17 points and the College of Southern Nevada placed second with 53 points.
Freshman Noah Brunet (Ironwood Ridge HS) was the top Pima finisher in the 8K (4.97 mile) race as he took eighth place with a time of 27 minutes, 56.1 seconds.
Freshman Tayvien Biacuzzo (Mica Mountain HS) rounded out the top 10 as he finished with a time of 28:18.3.
Sophomore Zack Comaduran (Marana HS) closed out the race in 11th place at 28:42.3 while fellow sophomore Louis Madrigal-Diaz (North Canyon HS) placed 12th and was clocked at 28:44.7.
Freshman Marco Hernandez (Buena HS) rounded out Pima’s scoring as he took 16th place at 29:57.2.
Brunet, Biacuzzo, Comaduran and Madrigal-Diaz all earned All-Region honors for their placements.
The Aztecs will close out the 2024 cross country season at the NJCAA Division I National Championships on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Pole Green Park in Richmond, VA.
