(PRESCOTT, AZ) The Park University Gilbert men’s soccer team (5-4-5, 3-3-4) lost on the road to the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Prescott Golden Eagles (5-4-5, 5-2-3) at Varsity Field.
The Eagles found their spark against the Buccaneers late in the match, scoring two unanswered goals in the final 12 minutes of play.
A first half of solid offense set up six shots, as the Bucs capitalized in the 23rd minute with a score from sophomore defenseman Miha Javnik. Freshman defenseman Noah Yalu assisted on the play. Javnik’s goal was the team’s shot on goal through the first half.
Embry-Riddle tied things up in the 78th minute off a score from midfielder Roei Nir, assisted by midfielder Julian Albanil. Six minutes later, defenseman Aleksandar Mihajlovic found the back of the net to seal the win for the Eagles.
Park Gilbert’s offense totaled nine shots and two shots on goal. Embry-Riddle took 14 shots. Bucs goalkeeper, sophomore Nicklas Lagesen, saved three of the five shots on goal from Embry-Riddle.
The Park-Gilbert men’s soccer team returns to the pitch Thursday, Oct. 24 at 8:00 p.m. MST, when they take on Hope International University (8-3-3, 5-2-3) on the road in Fullerton, California.
