(Mesa, AZ) The Park University Gilbert men’s soccer team (4-2-3, 2-0-3) played the University of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Prescott Eagles (2-3-4, 2-1-2) to a 1-1 tie Thursday night at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Ariz.
This in-conference match proved to be a tight contest for both squads, as they spent the final 68 minutes tied with one goal each.
The Buccaneers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as freshman forward Linus Vilhelmssonnetted the opening goal in the first minute of action. The Eagles didn’t take too long to respond, with freshman defenseman Aleksandar Mihajlovi scoring the tying goal around the 22nd minute.
Both goalkeepers, Park-Gilbert’s Zac Stephenson and Embry-Riddle’s Elias Ammon, each recorded two saves. The Bucs offense took ten total shots, and gave themselves plenty more scoring opportunities with seven corner kicks on the evening.
The Park-Gilbert men’s soccer team returns to the pitch this Saturday, Oct. 5, as they travel to play The Master’s University (3-4-2, 3-0-2) on the road in Santa Clarita, California.
