(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (5-0) left no doubt in its match on Saturday against GateWay Community College.
The No. 15 ranked Aztecs earned their fourth straight shutout win as they beat the Geckos 11-0. The Aztecs have outscored their opponents 28-1 in the first five games. They have also played four road games to begin the season.
Sophomores Lizzie Walker (Canyon del Oro HS) and Cam Razcon (Marana HS) each produced a hat trick. Walker netted the first three goals of the game in the 6th, 9th and 12th minutes to put Pima up 3-0. Razcon scored in the 31st minute to make it 4-0 and back-to-back goals in the 49th and 51th minutes to put the score at 7-0.
Sophomore Kassandra Vasquez scored two goals in the 57th and 74th minutes to make it 10-0. She also had an assist.
Freshmen Samantha Mendez (Tucson Magnet HS) and Kristal Navarro (Tucson Magnet HS) each scored a goal and had two assists. Mendez put in her goal in the 57th minute and Navarro made it 5-0 with her goal in the 38thminute.
Sophomore Jessica Alvarez (Tucson Magnet HS) provided the assists in Walker’s first two goals of the game. Freshman Marissa Garate (Tucson Magnet HS) scored the final goal and had an assist.
The Aztecs had 25 shots on goal and shut out the Geckos for the game. Freshman Phoebe Knisley (Canyon del Oro HS) and sophomore Jasmin Delgado (Salpointe Catholic HS) each played a half and finished with no saves.
The Aztecs play a scrimmage at Eastern Arizona College on Tuesday in Thatcher at 6:00 p.m. They return to the West Campus Aztec Field on Saturday to face off against Glendale Community College. Game time is at 8:00 p.m.
