Sanchez, Montealegre and Montilla net goals as #4 ranked Men’s Soccer shuts out No. 16 Glendale CC

(Tucson, AZ)  The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (7-0) picked up a big win as it hosted No. 16 ranked Glendale Community College on Saturday at the West Campus Aztec Field.

The No. 4 ranked Aztecs didn’t allow a shot on goal as they beat the Gauchos 3-0 for their fourth shutout victory of the season.

Sophomore Brandon Sanchez (Canyon del Oro HS) put the Aztecs on the scoreboard in the 8th minute with his goal in the box that was assisted by fellow sophomore Jacob Lund-Iversen.

Lund-Iversen got his second assist of the game when he set up sophomore Jose Luis Martin Montealegre’s header goal in front of the net in the 11th minute. The Aztecs led 2-0 at halftime.

Sophomore Missael Montilla (Tucson Magnet HS) tacked on one more insurance goal in the 68th minute. Sanchez had the assist.

The Aztecs finished with eight shots on goal. Jose Carlos Ortiz (Barca Academy) had no saves.

The Aztecs will host a scrimmage on Tuesday against the University of Arizona Club team and then get back to ACCAC conference play next Saturday when they travel to face Phoenix College. That game is set for 6:00 p.m.
