(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (6-0) responded in a quick manner after surrendering a rare goal in its game against Glendale Community College (3-3) on Saturday at the West Campus Aztec Field.
The No. 11 Aztecs responded with two unanswered goals to beat the Gauchos 3-1. It was only the second goal that Pima has given up so far this season.
After a scoreless first half, the Aztecs took the lead in the 56th minute with a goal by sophomore Camila Razcon (Marana HS) that was assisted by freshman Marissa Garate (Tucson Magnet HS).
The Gauchos tied the game at 1-1 when Anette Cornejo scored in the 61st minute.
Sophomore Jessica Alvarez ((Tucson Magnet HS) responded less than 30 seconds later as she drove a long shot that found the back of the net to put the Aztecs back up 2-1.
Sophomore Solaris Graves (Ironwood Ridge HS) added insurance with her goal in the 80th minute that was assisted by sophomore Lizzie Walker (Canyon del Oro HS).
The Aztecs finished with 11 shots on goal as Glendale had three shots. Freshman Phoebe Knisley (Canyon del Oro HS) had two saves for the game.
The Aztecs get a break from play and will be back on the pitch next Saturday at Phoenix College. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m.
