(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (3-0) played its first game at the West Campus Aztec Field on Saturday against Paradise Valley Community College (0-2).
The Aztecs earned their second straight shutout win after topping the Pumas 6-0.
Freshman Marissa Garate (Tucson Magnet HS) scored back-to-back goals in the 39th and 55th minutes to make it 4-0. Garate also had the assist in freshman Yatana Acosta’s (Tucson Magnet HS) goal in the 75th minute to make it 5-0.
Acosta had an assist on sophomore Jessica Alvarez’s (Tucson Magnet HS) goal in the 81st minute.
Sophomore Lizzie Walker (Canyon del Oro HS) put the Aztecs on the scoreboard in the 14th minute as freshman Samantha Mendez (Tucson Magnet HS) had her first of two assists. Her second assist came on Garate’s first goal.
Sophomore Camila Razcon (Marana HS) made it 2-0 with her goal in the 30th minute that was assisted by Kamalani Peralta (Tucson Magnet HS).
The Aztecs didn’t allow a shot on goal to the Pumas. Phoebe Knisley (Canyon del Oro HS) and sophomore Jasmin Delgado (Salpointe Catholic HS) each played a half and had no saves.
The Aztecs will be back on the road on Tuesday at Mesa Community College. Game time is at 7:00 p.m.
