(Kansas City, MO)  Sun Devil Men’s Basketball’s Big 12 Conference schedule for the 2024-25 season was announced by the league on Sept. 26.

Arizona State makes the transition to the Big 12 Conference and has now learned what their 20-game slate will look like. Head Coach Bobby Hurley and his staff join arguably the nation’s strongest college basketball league, with several premier programs and national title contenders competing for the conference crown. The Sun Devils have six conference games scheduled against preseason Top-25 competition. Four of the preseason Top-10 teams (Iowa State, Houston, Baylor, Arizona) will all come to Desert Financial Arena. Of their 20 league games, 15 will come against opponents that made the 2024 NCAA Tournament. In combination with a tough non-conference slate, Arizona State boasts arguably the nation’s toughest overall schedule.

The Sun Devils play all 15 Big 12 schools at least once from the end of December to the beginning of March, culminating in the Big 12 Men’s Basketball Tournament taking place March 11-15 at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City. Arizona State plays five schools twice (Arizona, BYU, Colorado, Kansas State, Texas Tech) in a home-and-home setup while facing the other ten schools just once. Opponents were selected based on a combination of geography, historical results and a poll of the coaches to best balance the schedule in terms of travel and competitiveness. Finalized details on times and television designations will be announced at a later date.

2024-25 Sun Devil Men’s Basketball Big 12 Schedule:

Dec. 31 (Tues.) – at BYU
Arizona State will begin the Big 12 era with a matchup at BYU. This will be the second straight year the two programs have met. The last time the Sun Devils traveled to Provo was back during the 2009 season. This is the first of two games with the Cougars, who come to Tempe later in February.

Jan. 4 (Sat.) – vs. Colorado
The Big 12 home opener presents a familiar foe, as Colorado comes to Tempe for ASU’s second conference game. Arizona State has faced the Buffaloes at home each of the past three years, including a 76-73 victory this past season. This is the first of two meetings between the two programs in 2024-25, as the Sun Devils return the trip in January.

Jan. 8 (Wed.) – at Kansas
For the first time since their epic upset of No. 2 Kansas back in 2017, Arizona State returns to iconic Allen Fieldhouse to face Kansas. This is the lone meeting between the two teams this year. Kansas is the consensus preseason No. 1 team in the nation, considered a premier national title contender. The Sun Devils have won each of the past two meetings in the series, including the thrilling 95-85 road win.  Arizona State found themselves down 15-2 before the first media timeout, but the resilient Sun Devils used a 15-0 run in the second half to earn the victory. The following season, Kansas returned the trip to Desert Financial Arena and were met with a similar fate. In front of a sold out crowd in one of the biggest home games in program history, Bobby Hurley guided his team to a 80-76 win over No. 1 Kansas.

Jan. 11 (Sat.) – vs. Baylor
The Sun Devils return home to face a second-straight preseason Top-10 opponent, this time hosting Baylor. Arizona State looks to reverse their recent fortune in the series, as the Bears have won each of the past five meetings. This will be Baylor’s first appearance in Tempe since 2009.

Jan. 14 (Tues.) – vs. UCF
Arizona State remains at home to take on UCF in the only meeting between the two teams this season. In fact, this will be the first meeting in series history, as the two teams have yet to matchup on the hardwood. Two Duke legends will face off once again, as Bobby Hurley and Johnny Dawkins lead their respective teams.

Jan. 18 (Sat.) – at Cincinnati
The longest road trip of the conference slate starts with a trip to preseason Top-25 member Cincinnati. It is the first meeting between the Sun Devils and Bearcats since 1997 and their only meeting in 2024-25. Arizona State holds a 2-1 advantage in the series, claiming the past two matchups. That includes an 87-79 road win at Fifth Third Arena at Shoemaker Center in 1997. ASU also defeated Cincinnati at home in 1973.

Jan. 21 (Tues.) – at West Virginia
Part two of the trip back East has Arizona State traveling to West Virginia. Much like the UCF game, this will be the first meeting between the two programs. This is also the only meeting of the season between the two teams.

Jan. 25 (Sat.) – vs. Iowa State
Following a lengthy road trip, Arizona State will return to Tempe for one of their biggest home games of the season. The Sun Devils will host preseason Top-10 selection Iowa State in one of the most anticipated games at Desert Financial Arena. ASU won the lone previous meeting in Tempe, 87-69, back in 1977, with the Cyclones claiming both games taking place in Ames.

Jan. 28 (Tues.) – at Colorado
For the first time in 2024-25, Arizona State will face an opponent for a second time and will go on a one-game road trip. The Sun Devils make the return trip to Boulder to take on Colorado. Bobby Hurley has won two of his past three games on the road against the Buffaloes.

Feb. 1 (Sat.) – vs. Arizona
The month of February starts with the most important opponent of the year, as rival Arizona comes to Tempe for their annual visit. The Wildcats are included in several preseason Top-10 rankings. This is the first of two meetings of the season between the two sides, with the Sun Devils returning the trip to Tucson in March.

Feb. 4 (Tues.) – vs. Kansas State
One of the five teams that Arizona State plays twice is Kansas State. The first of the two matchups will take place in Tempe, with the Wildcats making their first trip to Tempe since 1980. ASU leads the all-time series 5-4, with the last meeting going in favor of the Sun Devils in a thrilling 92-90 win at the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational. This is the first of two meetings between the two sides, with Arizona State returning the trip to Manhattan a few weeks later.

Feb. 9 (Sun.) – at Oklahoma State
For the first time since 1997, Arizona State will matchup with Oklahoma State. The two programs played each year from 1993-97, including neutral site meetings in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. This will be ASU’s first trip to Stillwater since 1995 and their only game against the Cowboys this season.

Feb. 12 (Wed.) – at Texas Tech
Arizona State renews what was previously a common matchup with Texas Tech. The two programs have met 41 times previously, making them the most frequent opponent of all the original Big 12 schools that stayed in the conference. This is the first of two matchups with the Red Raiders, who make the return trip to Tempe for ASU’s regular season finale. The Sun Devils lead the all-time series 22-19 and are currently on a five-game win streak over Texas Tech, including sweeping a home-and-home series back in 2012-13.

Feb. 15 (Sat.) – vs. TCU
The Sun Devils will welcome a familiar face when they host TCU in their return from a quick two-game road trip. The Horned Frogs will be led by former ASU guard Frankie Collins. This is the lone meeting between the two teams this year. The two programs had split four previous matchups before No. 6 seed TCU defeated No. 11 seed Arizona State, 72-70, in a dramatic first round game at the 2023 NCAA Tournament in Denver to take the 3-2 advantage in the series.

Feb. 18 (Tues.) – vs. Houston
One of the premier matchups of the home slate features preseason Top-10 Houston coming to Desert Financial Arena. This will be the first meeting between the two programs since 1986. In six previous contests, the two sides have each won three games. Houston last played in Tempe as part of the 1986 Kactus Classic. This is ASU’s only game with the Cougars this season.

Feb. 23 (Sat.) – at Kansas State
Up next is another one-game road trip. For the second time during the 2024-25 conference slate, the Sun Devils will take on Kansas State. This time they will travel to Manhattan for the first time since 1982.

Feb. 26 (Wed.) – vs. BYU
The Sun Devils will take on BYU for the second time in 2024-25, as the Cougars make the return trip to Tempe. Arizona State holds a 15-4 all-time record against BYU at home. The two programs have faced off a total of 50 times, mostly as former WAC foes. The last time the Cougars played in Tempe was 2002.

March 1 (Sat.) – at Utah
The only former Pac-12 team that Arizona State faces just once is Utah, as the Sun Devils only travel to Salt Lake City this year. Bobby Hurley looks to continue his recent run of success against the Utes, as ASU has won seven of the past nine matchups. That includes a regular season series sweep of Utah last year.

March 4 (Tues.) – at Arizona
One of the most highly-anticipated games of the season will once again be Arizona State’s trip to Tucson to take on Arizona. The second of the two meetings between the two Rivals will take place at McKale Center. This will be one of two road conference matchups against a Top-10 opponent for Arizona State. The Sun Devils are only a year removed from Desmond Cambridge Jr.’s iconic half-court shot to beat No. 6 Arizona on the road in 2023.

March 8 (Sat.) – vs. Texas Tech
The final Big 12 game of the season will take place at Desert Financial Arena. Arizona State will host Texas Tech in the second of two meetings between the two teams. The Sun Devils will also honor their senior class as part of the final home game recognition. ASU has won the last two meetings in Tempe with the Red Raiders.
