(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College volleyball team swept the ACCAC Division II Player of the Week awards for the week of Sept. 8-14.
Sophomore outside hitter Haylee Gilleland (Flagstaff HS) was selected the ACCAC Division II Offensive Player of the Week while fellow sophomore Jasmin Joseph (Tanque Verde HS) earned ACCAC Division II Defensive Player of the Week.
The Aztecs went 3-0 with two wins over nationally ranked teams: No. 15 Mesa Community College and No. 6 Scottsdale community College. All their matches went to five-set tiebreakers (15 sets played total).q
Gilleland finished the week with 62 kills and 54 digs, which included three double-doubles in those categories. She leads ACCAC Division II with 180 kills and is second on the team with 177 digs in 12 matches and 48 sets played so far this season.
Joseph totaled 70 digs, 13 assists and 10 aces in three matches last week. Her biggest match was at Chandler-Gilbert Community College when she posted 27 digs and five aces.
She leads the team with 191 digs and averages 4.34 per set over 11 matches and 44 sets played this season.
The Aztecs return to the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium when they host Phoenix College at 7:00 p.m.
