Bucs Women’s XC Takes On Firestorm Classic

(Glendale, AZ)  The Park University Gilbert women’s cross-country team valiantly competed Friday morning in the 4k event at the 2024 Firestorm Classic in Glendale, Ariz.

Host school Arizona Christian University and four other colleges participated in this event at Sahuaro Ranch Park, which had a total of 23 runners from ACU, Ottawa University of Arizona (OUAZ), Park-Gilbert and Phoenix College. The Buccaneers had three runners in this event: Kenyah Reed, Maryan Sharif, and Madison Turner.

ACU senior Allena Fugatt won the event, finishing in 1st place with a time of 15:26.2. Buccaneers senior Maryan Sharif finished the race in a close 2nd place, with a time of 15:48.2.

A few minutes later, junior Madison Turner crossed the finish line with a time of 19:00.0, placing 9th on the day. Senior Kenyah Reed followed shortly after, placing 16thwith a time of 20:18.7.

The Bucs women’s cross-country team now looks ahead to Saturday, Oct. 5, when they travel to Santa Clarita, Calif., to compete in The Master’s XC Invitational at 8:15 a.m.
