(MESA, AZ)  The Park University Gilbert women’s soccer team (1-4-2, 0-1-2) tied against Life Pacific University, Thursday evening in their home opener at Arizona Athletic Grounds.

After kickoff was delayed nearly half an hour due to an on-field bee infestation, this match concluded in a 0-0 draw for both squads.

Park-Gilbert’s offense maintained solid possession in the first half, which created plenty of offensive chances. The Bucs took 11 shots in the first half, nine of which were on goal. Three of those shots on goal came from senior midfielder Michelle Munoz, and two came from senior defender Ashlynn Jones. The Warriors’ offense took three shots, and their two shots on goal were saved by Buccaneers goalkeeper Morgan Trail.

At halftime Life Pacific made a goalkeeping change from Peyton Reynoso, who had nine saves in the first half, to Valarie Lopez. The final 45 minutes of play proved to be more of the same, with Park-Gilbert pressuring Life Pacific’s defensive zone. The Buccaneers took six shots in the second half, with three on goal.

The Buccaneers women’s soccer team prepares for a quick turnaround against the NAIA’s No. 11 ranked Hope International University (6-1-0, 3-0-0) on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 5:30 p.m. MST at Desert Sky Park in Gilbert, Ariz.
