(Aliso Viejo, CA) The Park University Gilbert men’s soccer team (2-2-0) defeated the Soka University of America (1-4-0) Lions by a score of 2-0 Saturday morning.
The Buccaneers went 2-for-2 on their California road trip this week with wins over La Sierra on Thursday and Soka on Saturday, bringing them to .500 after an 0-2 start to the season.
After an even and scoreless first half, Park Gilbert found the net as junior forward Havard Brynie scored an un assisted goal in the 54th minute.
The Bucs continued to fire off shots, with 11 total and 8 in the second half. Freshman forward Simon Scheucher then scored the match-sealing goal, assisted from freshman defensemen Noah Yalu, to go up 2-0 in the 81st minute.
Buccaneers goalkeeper, junior Zac Stephenson, recorded the clean sheet tonight saving Soka’s one shot on goal from midfielder Luca Aiello.
Park University Gilbert men’s soccer looks to extend its recent momentum into Sept. 17 on the road again against OUAZ (2-0-1), marking the first GSAC match of the year for both teams.
