(Aliso Viejo, CA)  The Park University Gilbert (1-1-0) women’s soccer team defeated Soka University of America (2-2-0) Friday night, securing their first win of the 2024 regular season with a 1-0 victory on the road in Aliso Viejo.

The Buccaneers capitalized early in the evening when senior forward Hallie Benson netted an unassisted goal in the 27th minute to set the tone for Park-Gilbert.

The Lions took 10 total shots, with three of them landing on goal. Junior and transfer goalkeeper Morgan Trail had a busy day in between the goalposts but came away with five saves and her first clean sheet as a Buccaneer.

Park-Gilbert’s offense took six shots, with the other two shots on goal coming from senior midfielder Dani Mares and junior forward Lauren Runnion.

Buccaneers women’s soccer returns to both the pitch and the Golden State on Thursday, Sept. 12, when they take on Oregon Tech in Redding, California.
