#10 ranked Women’s Soccer rally falls short in loss to #12 Scottsdale CC

(Tucson, AZ)  The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (6-2) faced off against an NJCAA Division II nationally ranked opponent for the second straight game.

The No. 10 ranked Aztecs fell behind and came up short in the rally as they fell 2-1 to the No. 12 Scottsdale Community College (6-2-1). The Aztecs had surrendered just two goals in the first six games but have given up four goals in the last two games.

Down 2-0, the Aztecs got on the board when sophomore Lizzie Walker (Canyon del Oro HS) scored in the 78thminute.

The Artichokes got on the board in the 23rd minute and it came on the heels of their fourth corner kick attempt. They went up two goals after Shayla Hunt scored in the 54th minute.

The Aztecs were held to three shots on goal for the game. Scottsdale finished with 10 shots on goal. Freshman Phoebe Knisley (Canyon del Oro HS) closed out the game with nine saves.

The Aztecs and the Artichokes have split their first two meetings this season. Pima won the first meeting 2-1 to start the 2024 season at Scottsdale.

The Aztecs will be back at the West Campus on Tuesday, Oct. 1 when they host Chandler-Gilbert Community College at 8:00 p.m. It will be a Pink-Out game in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
