(Tempe, AZ) On Monday morning, Sun Devil Lacrosse Head Coach Taryn Van Thof announced the hiring of Assistant Coach Danielle Pavinelli. Pavinelli joins the staff months after graduating from the University of Florida where she was an attacker for the Gators, making 84 of 87 starts in her illustrious career and graduated with her Bachelor’s in Health Education & Behavior.
Van Thof praised her new coaching addition, “I am excited to share the field again with Danielle! After a pronominal playing career at UF, she brings a wealth of championship experience. Danielle has a brilliant lacrosse mind. I can’t wait for her to share her offensive knowledge and passion for the game with Sun Devil Lacrosse this season!”
Ready to join Van Thof, a then-assistant coach during Pavinelli’s tenure in the south, Pavinelli praised the opportunity, “Taryn played such a significant role in my development as both a player and person during my time at Florida, and now having the chance to learn from her as a colleague is a full-circle moment.”
During her four seasons with the Gators, Pavinelli compiled 207 goals, 95 assists, 59 ground balls, 44 caused turnovers, and 25 draw controls. Pavinelli is the only player in program history to rank top-5 in points, goals and assists as she ranks third in assists, third in points and fourth in goals. Some of her many accolades include: 3x All-AAC First Team, All-AAC Second Team, AAC Freshman of the Year (2021), both ILWomen All-American Honorable Mention and USA Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention (2024) as well as being named to the Tewaaraton Watch List in 2023 and 2024.
