(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College softball team (37-12, 24-6 in ACCAC) got back on track on Tuesday snapping a four-game skid.
The Aztecs swept Yavapai College (12-23, 12-16) to close out their home schedule at the West Campus Aztec Field. Freshman Talia Martin (Mountain view HS) finished the day going 4 for 6 with two RBIs, three runs scored and two home runs. Sophomore Camila Zepeda (Tucson Magnet HS) is now on a 25-game hitting streak as she went 4 for 6 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Sophomore Mallory Zylinski-Wrobel (Sahuarita HS) closed out her day going 4 for 5 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Freshmen Jessica Thompson (Tanque Verde HS) and Nevaeah Bracamonte (Valencia HS) picked up the wins in the circle.
Game 1: Pima Aztecs 13, Yavapai Roughriders 4 (5 innings)
The Aztecs scored 12 unanswered runs and earned the run-rule victory.
Martin started it off hitting her first home run of the day on a 2-1 pitch sending it over the right field fence tying the game at 1-1. The Aztecs got RBI hits as part of the seven-run inning by Zylinski-Wrobel, Thompson, sophomore Kayla Miranda (Tucson Magnet HS) and freshman Aubrey Marx (Cienega HS). Sophomore Gabriella Salazar (Marana HS) had a two-run RBI single in the inning to make it 6-1. She later scored the final run of the inning.
Zepeda hit her 16th home run of the season as she sent a two-run shot over the center field fence to make it 13-1 in the 3rd inning.
Martin and Zylinski-Wrobel each finished the game 2 for 2 with an RBI and two runs scored. Marx hit a two-run RBI double in the 3rd inning and went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs scored while Zepeda was 1 for 3 with two RBIs and a run. Salazar closed out the game going 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs.
Thompson was 1 for 3 with three RBIs and a run as she also picked up the win in the circle as throwing all five innings, giving up four runs (two earned) on five hits with five strikeouts and two walks on 84 pitches.

Game 2: Pima Aztecs 4, Yavapai Roughriders 3
Martin hit her second home run of the day as she ended it with a walk-off in the 7th inning to complete the sweep.
The bats went cold for five innings as Pima trailed 2-0. Zepeda started off the 6th inning with a double, She scored when Zylinski-Wrobel hit an RBI single to put Pima on the scoreboard. Sophomore Mina Chacon (Tucson Magnet HS) followed with a two-run home run on the first pitch she saw, driving it deep to center field. The Aztecs took a 3-2 lead heading into the 7th.
The Roughriders tied the game at 3-3 with a run in the top of the 7th.
Martin finished the game 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run while Zepeda was a flawless 3 for 3 with a run scored. Chacon went 1 for 3 with two RBIs and a run. Zylinski-Wrobel finished 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run.
Bracamonte came in for relief as she pitched five and two-third innings, giving up one run (none earned) on four hits with two strikeouts and one walk on 61 pitches.

The Aztecs will close out the regular season on Saturday when they play at Arizona Western College. First game starts at 12:00 p.m.
The Aztecs have locked up the No. 2 seed for the Region I, Division I Tournament. It will be May 9-11 at Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher.
