(Tempe, AZ) The Collegiate Water Polo Association has announced the 2024 ACWPC All-American teams and highlighting the teams are Sun Devils’ Luca Petovary who made the second team and sophomore Millie Quin who earns an honorable mention nod.
The pair of attackers are the first duo in Sun Devil history to each record 100+ points in a season after leading Sun Devil Water Polo to a 23-8 record, the second most wins in program history.
The selections were picked by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches and are selected based on nominations and voting by the head coaches of each varsity program.
Petovary caps off her Sun Devil career by earning her second all-American recognition, her first coming her freshman season in 2021 being named honorable mention. This past season she became the first Sun Devil to win MPSF Player of the Year and the second to win a major conference award.
In her senior season, she re-wrote the record books. She posted an MPSF and Sun Devil record with 122 goals along with 29 assists and an ASU record of 151 points. She scored in 30 of 31 games and posted hat-tricks in 25 of 31 games this year. In addition, she broke the ASU record with most goals in a career with 252 and broke the MPSF and ASU record for most goals in a game with 10 against Mount St. Mary’s on March 1st—her shooting percentage of the best on the team at an outstanding 59.8%.
In 2024, she was named MPSF Player of the Week three times, one of two players in the conference to win the weekly honor on three separate occasions, and ranks second in Sun Devil history with 331 career points.
Quin collects an Honorable Mention nod after arriving in Tempe as a sophomore and coming from New Zealand. She posted career highs in all offensive categories with 73 goals, and 42 assists for 115 points. Her 73 goals rank tied for fifth in program history with Vanda Baska and her 115 points are the fourth-most in a season ASU history.
It’s the sophomore second career honor after earning a spot on the MPSF All-Second Team. For the Sun Devils, she had 21 multi-goal games and tallied 16 hat tricks on the year. Defensively she led the team with 35 steals and was third on the team with 14 field blocks. To start the year, she netted hat-tricks in the first five games and made a game-winning last-second goal to secure a top-10 victory against No.9 UC San Diego at the Triton Invitational.
