(West Monroe, LA) The Pima Community College men’s track & field team finished up the 2024 season on Saturday at the NJCAA Division I National Championships in West Monroe, LA.
The Aztecs finished in 12th place out of 36 teams with a total of 20.5 points. It was Pima’s best placement in the team standings and most points scored at the Outdoor National Championships since 2017 when they tied for 12th place with 27 points.
Freshman Jordan Cortner took seventh place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.77 seconds earning two team points. He set his personal and season-best at 53.02 at the Region I Championships where he finished in second place.
Other Pima finishes in the final day at the NJCAA Division I National Championships:
- Asa Fish – 16th place in Javelin 49.65 meters (162-10).
- Darlington Onsarigo (Mica Mountain HS) – 17th place in the Triple Jump 14.27 meters (46-10).
- Abraham Valenzuela (Palo Verde HS) – 22nd place in the 5,000 meters 15:31.42.
NJCAA Division I Outdoor National Championship All-Americans:
- Nathaniel Curtiss (Rincon/University HS) – 3rd place in High Jump 2.07 meters (6-9.50) (6 points).
- Tyler Rogers – T-4th place in High Jump 2.02 meters (6-7.50) (3.5 points).
- Adam McCoy – T-5th place in Pole Vault 4.67 meters (15-3.75) (4 points).
- Jacob Acedo (Gila Ridge HS) – 7th place in Decathlon 5993 points (2 points).
- Jordan Cortner – 7th place in 400-meter Hurdles 53.77 (2 points).
- Nasir Tucker – 7th place in Long Jump 7.28 meters (23-10.75) (2 points).
- Broden Cahoon – 8th place in Decathlon 5977 points (1 point).
The Aztecs conquered four Pima school records and finished with 18 NJCAA All-Americans between the 2024 Indoor and Outdoor seasons.
