(Chula Vista, CA) The Park University Gilbert women’s beach volleyball team finished the 2024 season with a win against Bushnell 3-2 in the 2024 NAIA West Qualifier in Chula Vista, Calif. today. The Buccaneer won for the second time in three matches against the Beacons this season.
The Bucs won at the No. 2, 3 and 5 flights, led again by the No. 2 team of Nichole Gary and Grace Baker who won 15-13 in the third set to finish the season with 18 wins.
The No. 3 team of Taylor Van Winkle and Jess Goldsmith won in straight sets as did the No. 5 squad of Avery Turk and Eliza Pearson.
The No. 1 team of Railey Druxman and Daisy Motes lost a tough three setter, dropping the final frame 15-11.
The Buccaneers end the season with a record of 6-21, but the brutality of the schedule is unquestioned as the Bucs played 19 of their 27 matches against NAIA ranked opponents or NCAA Division 1 or 2 teams. The Bucs return all but two starters next season as the Buccaneers say good bye to seniors Daniella Miranda-Johnson and Avery Turk.
