(Scottsdale, AZ) The Pima Community College softball team (33-8, 20-2 in ACCAC) extended its winning streak to 24 games on Saturday after playing an ACCAC conference doubleheader at Scottsdale Community College (16-18, 12-14).
Sophomore Camila Zepeda (Tucson Magnet HS) is on a 17-game hitting streak as she finished the day 4 for 8 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Freshman Talia Martin (Mountain View HS) closed out her day going 6 for 8 with five runs and an RBI in the leadoff spot. Freshman Aubrey Marx (Cienega HS) was 4 for 8 with two RBIs and three runs. Sophomore Mina Chacon (Tucson Magnet HS) was 3 for 7 with two RBIs and a run.
Freshman Jazmyne Waddell (San Manuel HS) went 3 for 7 with four RBIs and a run scored while also throwing a five-inning one-hit shutout. The Aztecs hit another five home runs on the day.

Game 1: Pima Aztecs 9, Scottsdale Artichokes 5
The Aztecs took the lead in the 1st inning and held off a rally from the Artichokes with more run production.
Martin hit a lead-off triple to open the game and Marx followed with a two-run home run to give Pima a quick 2-0 lead.
Freshman Natalya Rivera (Sunnyside HS) hit a two-run RBI single in the 4th inning with two outs bringing around sophomore Alexis Tsosie-Hood and freshman Cheyanne Ortiz (Tucson Magnet HS) to make it 4-0.
The Aztecs score another four runs in the 5th inning. Waddell drove a 1-0 pitch over the right field fence and brought around Martin and Zepeda. Chacon followed suit with a solo homer of her own over at center field to give Pima an 8-1 advantage.
The Artichokes scored three runs in the bottom-half of the 5th inning but would not get any closer.
Rivera led off the 6th with Pima’s fourth home run of the game as she sent a 1-1 pitch out to center field. She finished the game 2 for 4 with three RBIs and a run scored.
Martin went 3 for 4 with two runs scored while Marx was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a run. Waddell closed out the game at 1 for 3 with three RBIs and a run and Chacon finished 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run. Zepeda was 1 for 4 with a run scored.
Tsosie-Hood got the win as she pitched a complete-game, giving up five runs (five earned) on nine hits with nine strikeouts and one walk.

Game 2: Pima Aztecs 10, Scottsdale Artichokes 0 (5 innings)
The Aztecs earned their eighth shutout victory of the season as they run-ruled the Artichokes to complete the sweep.
After back-to-back singles to start the game, Zepeda hit a two-run RBI double to drive in Martin and Marx. Freshman Kayla Miranda (Tucson Magnet HS) capped off the three-run inning with an RBI single.
Freshman Stephany Montoya (Kofa HS) made it 6-0 with her solo home run in the 3rdinning.
Zepeda, Waddell and Chacon hit three straight RBI singles in the 4th inning. Sophomore Gabriella Salazar (Marana HS) drew a bases loaded walk in the inning.
Zepeda added an RBI in the 2nd inning as she finished 3 for 4 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Martin had an RBI double in the 2nd inning and also finished 3 for 4 with an RBI and three runs. Montoya went 1 for 2 with an RBI and a run. Marx was 2 for 4 with two runs scored while Waddell finished 2 for 4 with an RBI. Chacon and Miranda each went 1 for 3 with an RBI.
Waddell got the win after pitching all five innings, giving up one hit with six strikeouts and two walks on 66 pitches.
The Aztecs will be back at the West Campus Aztec Field next Saturday when they host Central Arizona College. First game starts at 12:00 p.m.
