(Chandler, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s golf team closed out the 2024 season on Thursday in the Region I, Division I Championships held at the Ocotillo Golf Club in Chandler.
The Aztecs took second place in the final team standings with a four-round total of 1215 (299-299-307-310). Eastern Arizona College placed first with 1147 (289-291-285-282) and Estrella Mountain Community College finished in third place with 1231 (301-303-322-305).
Freshman Caysen Wright earned All-Region I, Division I honors after he finished in eighth place with a four-day score of 300 (74-69-75-82).
Freshman Colton Boone (Douglas HS) took ninth place and shot a 2-over par 73 in his final round as he finished with a 301 (74-77-77-73).
Sophomore Luis Lopez (Sahuarita HS) placed 10th in the final standings as he closed out the tournament with a 305 (77-81-73-74).
The Aztecs had captured the Region I, Division I Team Championships the previous two years and six region titles in the last nine years. This was their first second place finish since 2018. The Aztecs produced a total of 29 All-Region I, Division I golfers since 2015.
