(Thatcher, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s golf team competed in its sixth and final regular season tournament of the 2024 season on Monday and Tuesday at the Eastern Arizona College Invitational held at the Mt. Graham Golf Club in Thatcher.
The Aztecs earned third place for the second time this season as they finished with a team score of 598 (299-299).
Sophomore Luis Lopez (Sahuarita HS) produced the best finish as he shot a 2-over par 74 in Monday’s round and a 1-over par 73 in the final round. He placed ninth in the final individual standings with a total of 147.
Freshman Caysen Wright finished tied for 13th place with a 149. He shot a 77 in his first round but closed out with an even-par 72 on Tuesday.
Freshman Colton Boone (Douglas HS) finished off the tournament with a two-day score of 152 as he finished with a 75 and a 77. Freshman Jens Bendict (Catalina Foothills HS) was tied for 20th place after shooting a 153 (76-77).
The Aztecs will compete at the NJCAA Region I, Division I Championships held at the Ocotillo Golf Club from April 22-25 in Chandler, AZ.
