(San Francisco, CA) Sun Devil Men’s Basketball junior guard Frankie Collinsreceived recognition for his outstanding performance in 2023-24 as the Pac-12 Conference announced their postseason awards on Tuesday afternoon.
Collins was named to the Pac-12 Conference All-Defensive Team while also earning Honorable Mention Pac-12 All-Conference honors, as voted on by the league’s head coaches. He becomes the first Sun Devil to land on the All-Defensive Team since Zylan Cheatham and Lu Dort represented two of the five selections in 2018-2019. For the seventh consecutive year, Head Coach Bobby Hurley had one of his players receive All-Conference distinction. Guard Desmond Cambridge Jr. was a Second Team All-Conference selection in 2022-2023.
Not only did Collins put together a season that made him worthy of consideration for Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, he was one of the best all-around players in the entire conference. He led the Maroon and Gold in scoring, assists, and steals while grabbing the second-most rebounds. Collins was extremely durable and reliable throughout the season. He was the only Sun Devil to start all 31 games and he reached double digit points in 28 of those. Collins already has 83 steals this season, the most by a Pac-12 player since Matisse Thybulle (Washington) had 126 during the 2018-19 season.
