(Athens, GA) Announced by the NCAA this evening prior to the start of day three’s finals at the Women’s NCAA Swim and Dive Championships, Arizona State’s Lindsay Looney was named a recipient of the Elite 90 award of women’s swim and dive for 2023-24.
The Elite 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers.
The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA’s championships.
Looney, a graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in Family and Human Development, was also named the Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year for women’s swim and dive earlier this month and has a cumulative 4.00 GPA. She is the first swimmer to win this award for the Sun Devils and is the first student-athlete for ASU to receive this honor since Roberta Liti of women’s golf in 2017-18.
