(Irving, TX) On Wednesday morning, the Big 12 Conference announced the addition of three members– Florida, San Diego State, and UC Davis– who join Arizona State, Cincinnati and Colorado in women’s lacrosse. The 24-25 season conference opponents are set for the Sun Devils with the addition of these teams, including head coach Taryn VanThof‘s former coaching stop at the Florida Gators.
VanThof praised the additions, “We are excited to welcome Florida, UC Davis and SDSU to Big 12 Lacrosse. The addition brings visibility to Big 12 Lacrosse from Coast to Coast!”
In 2025, the Big 12 Conference will have affiliate members competing for the Conference’s postseason championship aside from regular season competition. The 2025 lacrosse Conference championship will be the first of its kind for the Big 12.
Additionally, the Big 12 has announced the format for the league’s first-ever women’s lacrosse season in 2025 – teams will play a single round-robin, consisting of five games, with the top four teams advancing to the Big 12 Championship.
The 2025 championship is set for May 1 & 3, hosted on-campus at Colorado’s Prentup Field in Boulder.
