Baker averages 19.5 points to earn third nod as ACCAC Player of the Week

(Tucson, AZ)  Pima Community College men’s basketball player Dillan Baker (Salpointe Catholic HS) received his second straight selection and third overall as ACCAC Division II Player of the Week.

Baker, a sophomore guard, finished the week with 39 points (averaged 19.5 points per game), four rebounds, two assists and one steal. He was 9 for 17 from three-point range in Pima’s wins at Scottsdale Community College (110-80) and at Cochise College (81-69). Baker scored 27 points and went 7 for 9 from beyond the arc in the win at Scottsdale.

Baker has played and started in all 15 games as he is fourth in the ACCAC averaging 19.2 points per game. He is also averaging 3.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals on the season.

He had previously been selected for the weeks of Nov. 27-Dec. 3 and Dec. 25-31.

The Aztecs moved up two spots to No. 12 in the NJCAA Division II National Poll. They will host No. 17 ranked Chandler-Gilbert Community College on Wednesday at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
