(Louisville, KY)  Sun Devil running back Cam Skattebo was selected as the Paul Hornung National Player of the Week, the Louisville Sports Commission announced Tuesday afternoon.

This is the second time that Skattebo has earned this recognition, previously doing so after the Sun Devils defeated Washington State. The junior put together another tremendous performance on Saturday, contributing in many ways to Arizona State’s 17-7 victory over UCLA. For his efforts, Skattebo was tabbed as the most versatile player in college football in Week 11. He once again made the Hornung Weekly Honor Roll, the fourth time he has received that distinction this year.

As a part of Kenny Dillingham‘s creative and unique game plan, Skattebo received a plethora of offensive responsibilities. He touched the ball 19 times in four different ways and accounted for both touchdowns in the road win over UCLA. No play was bigger than his 25-yard touchdown pass late in the third quarter to Elijhah Badger, which proved to be the game-winner. He added a 17-yard, fourth quarter scoring run put the game out of reach. He had 12 carries for 61 yards, three receptions, threw three passes including a touchdown toss and punted once for 50 yards.

HORNUNG CAMPAIGN
Sun Devil running back Cam Skattebo has been extremely vital and versatile for Arizona State this season and has emerged as a leading candidate for the Paul Hornung Award. The Hornung Award is given annually to the most verstatile player in college football. Skattebo has accounted for 631 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on the ground, 85 yards and a touchdown through the air, while also hauling in 23 passes for 280 yards and a touchdown. To go along with his nine total touchdowns, he also is responsible for two two-point conversions. Skattebo has both a 66-yard run and 66-yard reception this year. He has also been asked to handle punting duties on several occasions. On six attempts, he averages 44.0 yards per punt, with three registering 50+ yards and three pinning the opponent inside the 20.

Skattebo is one of just two running backs in the country to pass, catch and rush for a touchdown (Treshaun Ward, K-State). He has been credited nine snaps at quarterback – going 6 of 9 for 127 yards, a touchdown, and one drop that would have been a touchdown. No other running back in the nation has throw more than 2 attempts. On the ground, he has been stuffed on just 12.2 percent of rushing attempts, 18th lowest in FBS. His 46 missed tackles forced are 19th among FBS running backs, while his 30.2 percent first down/TD percentage is Top-40 among backs. He has lined up as a wide receiver on 219 snaps this year, catching 23 of his 31 targets, 280 yards, 1 touchdown. The 280 receiving yards are 10th nationally among running backs. He has 158 yards after contact as a receiver, third among running backs in the FBS. The 11 missed tackles after the catch is eight among running backs nationally. Skattebo is responsible for the longest punt of the year by any Sun Devil, a 53-yard boot. None of his punts have been returned, giving him a net punting average that is second-nationally among any punter with at least 5 punts this year. Only one other running back has punted this year (Trey Sanders, 1 punt at TCU).
