(Gilbert, AZ)  Park University Gilbert women’s soccer goalkeeper Catherine Corlett was named to the College Sports Communicators NAIA District All-Academic team in a release posted by the CSC. Corlett is the first Park Gilbert women’s soccer player to receive the honor. Corlett now has an opportunity to earn national all-academic honors from the CSC.

Corlett, a senior, posted a 4.0 GPA in Sport and Exercise Science while helping to lead the Buccaneers to its first ever postseason berth in 2023. The Gilbert, Ariz., native was a second-team all-conference member as well as being named to the Cal Pac all-academic team.

Corlett is the Bucs all-time leader in wins, Goals Against Average (GAA) and shutouts. She has been a key figure on the field in the women’s soccer program’s turnaround. The team had won one game in the programs first three seasons before Corlett became one of the centerpieces of head coach Kali Harmon‘s first recruiting class. Over the past two seasons the Bucs have won 11 games and made the conference tournament for the first time.

In addition to the academic and athletic piece of the nomination, one of the other criteria includes community service work. Corlett helped to coordinate the team’s participation in Feed My Starving Children where the team would fill food boxes to be sent to third world countries. She has volunteered for the Best Buddies Walk and this fall she has worked as a Campus Captain for the organization Hidden Opponent who works to bring mental health resources to student-athletes through events and awareness.

College Sports Communicators is the organization formally known as CoSIDa, which is led by college athletic communications directors.
