E(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (10-2, 7-2 in ACCAC) and Arizona Western College (10-0-3, 7-0-2) put on a show on Tuesday in a match between top teams in the NJCAA and in the ACCAC conference.
The No. 2 ranked Aztecs (Division II) had their 7-game winning streak snapped by the No. 1 ranked Matadors (Division I) 2-1.
Down 1-0, the Aztecs tied the game early in the second half when sophomore Stetson Milligan (Cienega HS) drove a ball into the net in the 53rd minute with an assist from freshman Brandon Sanchez (Canyon del Oro HS).
Western’s Stephen Saladin broke the 1-1 tie with his second goal of the game at the 6:35mark (83rd minute). He netted his first goal in the 25th minute.
The Aztecs outshot the Matadors 7-3 for the game. Freshman Jose Carlos Ortiz (Nogales HS) finished the match with two saves.
The Aztecs head out on the road to play at Eastern Arizona College on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
