(Tucson, AZ) Pima Community College softball player Elise Munoz (Salpointe Catholic HS) earned a national accolade for the 2023 season.
Munoz, a sophomore outfielder, was named second team NJCAA All-American. She is the first Pima softball NJCAA All-American since Courtney Brown (Flowing Wells HS), who was selected first team All-American in 2016.
Munoz was named first team All-ACCAC and selected to the All-Region I, Division I team. She played in 59 games this season as the team’s leadoff hitter. She led the Aztecs with a .454 batting average, 89 hits, 76 runs scored, 26 doubles and 26 stolen bases. She had 196 at-bats along with 40 RBIs, 29 walks, three triples and one home run. Munoz posted a .914 fielding percentage and had 124 put-outs at centerfield.
She batted .442 in 88 games and 278 at-bats for her career with the Aztecs with 123 hits and 106 runs scored.
The Aztecs finished the 2023 season with a 36-24 overall record (most wins overall and in ACCAC conference play since 2017). Pima was 21-25 overall in 2022.
Munoz will continue her collegiate career at Jarvis Christian University, an NAIA school in Hawkins, TX starting in the fall.
